Prof. Em. Daniel Yachia – Chairman and Chief Medical Officer
Daniel Yachia is Em. Professor of Urology at the B. Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. He is the founder, and until his retirement, he was Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center for 20 years. He is the author of almost 100 scientific publications in professional journals, and 21 chapters in various scientific books. The book, Stenting the Urinary System, edited by Prof. Yachia, won the First Prize at the yearly Medical Book Competition in 1999 organized by the British Medical Association. The second edition of the book was published in 2004 and received the Highly Recommended book in Urology award at the 2004 BMA Medical Book Competition. In 2007, he published an additional book, titled, Text Atlas of Penile Surgery. He is considered an expert on non-vascular stents and penile reconstructive surgery.
As an international expert in the field of stents, he was invited to become a member of the International Committee on Interventional Therapies for BPH patronized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and took part in the preparation of its three bi-annual consensus reports.
Prof. Yachia holds over 30 issued and over 20 filed U.S. and international patents for stents and stent delivery systems, penile erectile systems, intravesical treatment devices, and other urological devices. As a serial entrepreneur, he founded and co-founded several companies, mostly based on his inventions—InStent, Inc. (1996 - M&A w. Medtronic) which developed the first self-expanding removable stent, and Allium Ltd., which produces the covered and removable urethral, ureteral, and biliary stents as well as the first triangular prostatic stent. The triangular prostatic stent he invented received the Silver Medal of the 2011 Medical Device Excellence Award. In addition he was the co-founder of Harmonia, Inc. for prostate treatment, Impetus Ltd., a novel penile prosthesis, and Innoventions Ltd., which is currently developing several device concepts for the treatment of urological diseases.
Sedat Barokas - Chief Executive Officer
Prior to assuming the Chief Executive Officer role at B-a-MedFounder, Sedat was a private equity investment professional and an investment banker with leading institutions such as Turkven Private Equity in Turkey and J.P. Morgan in the U.S. During his tenure at those institutions, Sedat focused on private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, as well as equity, equity-linked, and debt financing assignments primarily in the consumer, retail, and healthcare sectors.
Sedat is a graduate of Richmond University in the U.K. where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and is also a graduate of Brandeis University’s International Business School in the U.S. where he pursued a master’s degree in International Economics and Finance.
